Servings 8 breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water about 110 degrees
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • fresh chopped basil

Instructions

  • In the bowl of your stand mixer with the dough hook attachment, add warm water, yeast, sugar and stir. For yeast activation, let sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add flour, baking powder, salt and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Turn mixer on medium speed and knead for about 5-7 minutes until ball of dough forms around the hook.
  • Transfer dough to a lightly greased bowl and cover for about 1.5 hours or until dough doubles in size.
  • Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and form into a rectangle. Cut dough long, skinny logs about 1 inch thick and 5 inches long. (see photo above for reference). Cover with towel and let rise another 30 minutes.
  • While dough rises, preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Mix minced garlic in with your melted butter.
  • Transfer breadsticks to a parchment lined baking sheet and baste with the garlic butter.
  • Place breadsticks in the oven and bake for about 13-15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped basil. ENJOY!
