BBQ Bacon Baked Beans

Savory baked beans made with bacon, onion and peppers in a savory sauce with a dash of maple syrup. A classic barbecue side dish to serve with grilled meats, potato salad, coleslaw and more.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 - 15 oz. cans Pork & Beans
  • 4 slices Bacon
  • 1 cup Onion chopped
  • ½ cup Anaheim Pepper chopped
  • 1 clove Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard
  • 2 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 3 tablespoon Ketchup

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cook sliced bacon until golden but not crisp. Remove bacon, chop up and set aside for later.
  • Add chopped onion and peppers to the bacon grease and cook over medium heat until soft. Add all remaining ingredients and give it a stir.
  • Pour beans into a baking dish and sprinkle bacon crumbles on top.
  • Bake beans in the oven for 60 minutes until browned and bubbly on top.

Notes

You can substitute green bell pepper for the Anaheim pepper. Also, If you have a small dutch oven (linked above) you can bake your beans in that instead of the baking dish.
