Grilled Flatbread Recipe - This SUPER easy and DELICIOUS grilled flatbread is the best bread for summer days when you don't want to heat up your house cooking indoors. Instead, heat up your barbecue and grill your flatbread to perfection! The grill gives the flatbread an amazing flavor that you can't get from cooking on the stovetop.

    JUMP TO RECIPE

There are so many things you can do with this grilled flatbread. For example, you can make a variety of different flatbread pizza's, breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, or you can even serve with grilled meats and vegetables straight from the bbq.

    Grilled Flatbread

    Ingredients:

    • 3 cups all-purpose flour
    • ¼ cup warm water
    • ½ cup warm milk
    • â…“ cup sour cream
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • ¾ teaspoon active dry yeast
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 4 tablespoon butter, melted

    Directions:

    1. In the bowl of your stand mixer with dough hook attached, add milk, water, yeast and sugar. Let sit 10 minutes to allow yeast activation.
    2. In another bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder.
    3. Add the flour mixture, sour cream, and olive oil to the mixer bowl. Begin to knead dough over medium speed and continue for about 10 minutes until dough forms into a soft ball around the hook.
    4. Place ball of dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover with towel. Let rise for about 1 hour or until dough doubles in size.
    5. Transfer dough onto a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 equal pieces. Using a rolling pin, roll each piece out into a long rectangle.
    6. Brush each flatbread with butter on both sides and preheat your grill to medium-low heat.
    7. Place the flatbread on the grill and close lid. Let cook for about 2-3 minutes until the flatbread slightly bubbles on top and forms some nice grill marks. Flip flatbread over with a large spatula and let cook for another 2-3 minutes.
    8. Remove from the grill and serve with your favorite toppings!

Alternative Cooking Methods: You can cook this flatbread on a grill pan indoors on your stove or you can use a skillet. For these methods, increase the heat to medium-high heat and cook for about 2 minutes on each side or until lightly golden and flatbread begins to puff up/bubble.
