Soft and delicious cinnamon bread is the perfect bread to enjoy while you sip on your morning coffee. I have been in love with cinnamon bread since i was a child. It was served up on every holiday and now I cannot go Christmas or Thanksgiving without it! Not only is this bread absolutely delicious, but it fills up my home with that warm aroma of cinnamon and spices which I cannot get enough of!
This recipe makes 1 large loaf of bread, so if you are cooking for a crowd, you can easily double the recipe. I have always enjoyed eating my cinnamon bread sliced and lightly warmed up with butter. I know lots of people also enjoy eating cinnamon bread toasted so they get a yummy crunch with every bite! Either way you can’t go wrong with this bread as it is scrumptious! I hope you all enjoy.
Cinnamon Bread
makes 1 loaf
Ingredients:
3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp active dry yeast
2 eggs
3 tbsp melted butter
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar
Directions:
Heat milk and water to about 110 degrees. Be sure the liquid is warm to the touch and not hot.
Pour the mixture into the bowl of your mixer. Add yeast and let sit for about 10 minutes to let yeast activate. Mixture will become foamy.
Fit your mixer with the dough hook and turn on low speed. Add eggs, sugar, salt and butter.
Turn mixer speed up to medium and begin adding the flour, one cup at a time, until fully combined.
Remove dough from mixer bowl and place in a separate lightly oiled bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for about 1 1/2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.
For the cinnamon sugar filling: Combine sugar, ground cinnamon, ground cloves and nutmeg in a small bowl.
Lightly flour a large surface to roll out dough.
Using a lightly floured rolling pin, roll dough out into a rectangle ( about 13″x9″).
Evenly sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture covering the entire top of the dough all the way to the edge.
Now, from the short end, roll the cinnamon dough all the way up while pinching the sides closed.
Lightly grease a 9″x5″ bread dish with butter.
Place cinnamon bread into the buttered dish. Cover with a clean towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees while bread rises.
Brush the top of the cinnamon bread with remaining 2 tbsp melted butter.
Bake in the oven for 40 minutes, top will become golden.
Remove bread from the oven and let cool. Slice and serve with butter! Place in the toaster if you like your cinnamon bread toasted. Enjoy!
