I am SO excited to share this recipe with you guys! It was a major hit in our house and I have a feeling it will be a hit in yours too. The beef is made in a slow cooker with homemade bbq sauce giving you the most flavorful pull-apart end result.

We served our BBQ Beef with creamy mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Another amazing way to serve this beef is on toasty buns for a delicious BBQ Beef Sandwich. Either way you cannot go wrong!

This recipe serves about 4-6 people. If you are cooking for a large crowd, you can easily double the recipe. Store leftovers completely cooled in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

Ingredients you need to make Slow Cooker BBQ Tri Tip Roast:

Beef Roast - You'll need about a 2 lb. beef roast. You can use tri tip, chuck roast, or London broil. I used a tri tip roast in this recipe and it was absolutely delicious!

Onion - I used red onion in this recipe but you can also use white or yellow onion.

Garlic - Fresh garlic cloves are best in this recipe but if you don't have any on hand you can substitute 1 teaspoon garlic powder.

Ketchup - If you don't have ketchup you can substitute for tomato sauce.

Brown Sugar - Light or dark brown sugar both work great in this recipe. I used light brown.

Chili Powder - Chili powder adds a delicious spice and flavor to the BBQ sauce.

Mustard - I prefer yellow mustard in this recipe, but if you'd like you can also use dijon or grainy mustard.

Apple Cider Vinegar - If you don't have apple cider vinegar on hand you can also use red wine vinegar.

Paprika - Smoked or regular paprika both work great in this recipe.

Worcestershire Sauce - Adds a delicious flavor to the bbq sauce. If you don't have Worcestershire Sauce, you may substitute with soy sauce.

Beef Broth - I used regular beef broth in this recipe, but you can also use low sodium.

**Full measurements and instructions listed below.

Place lid on crockpot and cook on low heat for 7 ½ hours or on high heat for 4 hours. When done, beef will be fork tender.

This was the best beef recipe I have ever had. I grilled my top sirloin roast on the grill (lump charcoal) first till I had a dark sear on both sides.
After wards I poured half the sauce in a cast iron dutch oven, laid the roast on top and poured the remaining sauce over top. In the oven for 1 hour @ 350 and 2 hours at 250. Took it out of the oven and let it rest 1 hour. This is the closest to bbq beef brisket that I have ever had. Definitely keeping this recipe!
      Thank you!!!!

Do you think this would be good as a sandwich with a roll or like Dutch crunch?

I used this rub on brisket. I added a little paprika and a lot of brown sugar to the rub. I didn't add any commercial bbq sauce. It was available and it ended up being a toss up - about half the family added bottled sauce. I really liked this blend! I'll use it again!
