Ingredients You Need To Make Rich Braised Beef Short Ribs:
Beef Short Ribs - You'll need 4-8 large beef short ribs (about 2-4 pounds).
All-Purpose Flour - We use all-purpose flour to coat the short ribs in prior to browning. Cornstarch can be used as a substitute.
Oil - You can use avocado or canola oil to sear the short ribs in.
Garlic - Fresh garlic cloves are best in this recipe. You'll need about four large cloves or equivalent to two tablespoons minced.
Onion - One cup of chopped red or white onion.
Beef Broth - One cup of beef broth. In a pinch, you can also use chicken broth.
Red Wine Vinegar - We use red wine vinegar to help tenderize the short ribs as they cook.
Balsamic Vinegar - We use a combination of red wine vinegar and balsamic vinegar to tenderize the short ribs. These two vinegars also give the ribs a delicious rich flavor.
Tomato Paste - Tomato paste adds a nice robust flavor to the short rib gravy.
Brown Sugar - Light or dark brown sugar both work great in this recipe.
Worcestershire Sauce - You'll need two tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. Soy sauce can be used as a substitute.
Sriracha - Use sriracha or tabasco for added flavor and a very mild spice.
Seasonings - Chili Powder, Dried Thyme, Salt & Black Pepper

- Skillet - For browning the short ribs in and cooking the sauce.

How To Make Crockpot Rich Braised Short Ribs:
Pull short ribs out of the fridge about 20 minutes before you begin cooking. Season the ribs with salt and pepper on all sides. Then, sprinkle all sides with flour.
In a bowl, mix remaining ingredients (except for the oil).
Heat a large skillet over high heat on the stove. Once very hot, carefully add oil. Carefully sear the short ribs on all sides for about 30 seconds. Once browned, remove ribs from skillet and transfer to your slow cooker.
Pour sauce into the same pan you seared the ribs in. Bring to a low boil and cook for about 4-5 minutes until sauce lightly reduces.
Carefully, pour sauce over the short ribs in your slow cooker. Cook on low for 8-9 hours. When done, ribs will be fall off the bone, fork-tender.
When done, thicken the gravy by whisking together ¼ cup sauce from your crockpot with 2 tablespoon flour. Pour slurry back into your slow cooker and stir.
