Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Begin by mixing cinnamon sugar topping in a small bowl and set aside.
In a large bowl, mix flour, cinnamon, salt and baking powder.
In a separate bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Whisk until smooth.
Whisk in applesauce, vanilla, milk and eggs.
Add dry ingredients to the wet and mix until just combined.
Evenly pour batter into your standard sized baking cup lined muffin pan. Sprinkle tops with cinnamon sugar topping.
Transfer muffin pan to oven and bake for 22-24 minutes. When done, muffin tops will be lightly golden and a toothpick should run through the muffins and come out clean.
