You are going to love how quick and easy my Gnocchi with Peas dish comes together! This recipe will serve about 4 people. If you are cooking for a larger crowd, simply double this recipe.

Ingredients You Need To Make Gnocchi With Peas:

Gnocchi - You'll need one pound of gnocchi.

Butter - Salted or unsalted butter will both work great.

Olive Oil - Your favorite olive oil will work or you can use avocado oil in substitution.

Yellow Onion - White, yellow or sweet onion will all work great in this recipe.

Garlic Cloves - Fresh garlic is best!

Salt - Your favorite table salt. I use Himalayan or sea salt.

Crushed Tomatoes - You'll need one can of crushed tomatoes. As a substitute you can also use tomato sauce or diced tomatoes and break them up while cooking.

Peas - You can use canned or frozen peas in this recipe.

Heavy Cream - I don't recommend any substitutes for heavy cream in this recipe, but if you are in a pinch you may be able to get away with using half and half. The sauce will not be as thick and creamy if you do.

Black Pepper - Fresh cracked black pepper or ground black pepper.

Oregano & Parsley- We used dried oregano and parsley in this recipe but you can also use fresh.

Crushed Red Pepper - This will add a nice pop of spice and flavor to the dish.

Parmesan Cheese - I recommend using a high quality parmesan cheese but you can use whatever you have on hand.

Tools to have on hand for this recipe:

    • Large Saucepan – You'll need two. One to boil the gnocchi in and the other to cook the creamy tomato sauce in.
    • Cooking Spoon – To stir sauce while cooking.
    • Cutting Board - For prepping onions.
    • Chef Knife – Prepping onions.
    • Measuring Spoons – To ensure all of your ingredients are properly measured.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    What is Gnocchi?

Gnocchi are an Italian style dumplings that are made using potatoes, eggs, and flour. This is how gnocchi vary from your typical pasta, which do not include potato.

What to put on my Gnocchi?

A lot of people steer clear of gnocchi because they aren't sure what to serve with it, what it is, or how to cook it.

Serve gnocchi with any of your favorite pasta sauces, warm butter and parmesan cheese, and so much more.

You can treat gnocchi like it's pasta and pretty much make anything with the gnocchi that you would make with pasta.

How do I know when my Gnocchi are done cooking?

A good rule of thumb when cooking gnocchi is that they are done cooking when they begin to float to the top of your boiling water. Be careful not to leave them in the water too long or they will overcook and become mushy.

    How to store leftover gnocchi?

Store leftover gnocchi in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
