Turmeric Rice Recipe - A delicious and buttery golden turmeric rice recipe made with fresh mushrooms, onions, garlic, spices and broth.

We served our Turmeric Rice with my favorite Teriyaki Chicken Skewers recipe and steamed broccoli. I will link a few more main courses to serve with the rice for you below.
This recipe will serve about four people as a side dish. If you are cooking for a larger crowd, simply double the recipe.
Ingredients You Need To Make Turmeric Rice:
Jasmine Rice - Jasmine rice, basmati rice or any other long grain white rice will work great in this recipe.
Butter - Salted or unsalted butter.
Onion - Yellow, white or sweet onion will all work great in this recipe.
Mushroom - We used mini portobello mushrooms in this recipe, but you can also use white mushroom or large portobello.
Garlic - Fresh garlic is highly recommended in this recipe. If substituting with garlic powder, use one teaspoon garlic powder.
Turmeric - We used ground turmeric powder in this recipe.
Chicken Broth - We used chicken bone broth for the added health benefits, but you may also use regular chicken broth, or vegetable broth.
Black Pepper - Freshly cracked or ground black pepper.
Salt - Himalayan, sea salt or your favorite cooking salt.

- Nonstick Skillet with lid – To cook the turmeric rice in.
- Measuring Spoons + Cups – For properly measuring all of your ingredients.
- Cutting Board + Chef Knife - To chop up the onion and mushroom.

How To Make Turmeric Rice:
Add butter, chopped onion, and mushroom to a skillet over medium heat. Cover and cook for a few minutes until veggies are tender. Add minced garlic and cook another minute.
Stir rice, turmeric, black pepper and salt into the cooked veggies. Add chicken broth and bring to a low simmer. Cover and cook for 20 minutes.
When done, gently fluff the rice with a fork. Sprinkle top with fresh chopped cilantro and serve. Enjoy!

Store cooled leftover rice in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.
Place rice in a microwave safe bowl. Cover with a damp paper towel. Reheat in 30 second increments, stirring in between until nice and hot. If rice is drying out sprinkle top with a little water.
The flavor combination has a light buttery, earthy taste with hints of pepper and ginger. Fresh chopped cilantro gives the rice an amazing fresh flavor.
