Serve homemade chili topped with grated cheddar cheese and sour cream. We also like to sprinkle a little tobasco on top for some heat.

I linked a few of my favorite side dishes to serve with chili for you below. A few of our favorites are cornbread, rustic French bread, tortilla chips and more. This recipe will serve about 4-6 people depending on everyone's appetite.

Ingredients You Need To Make Chuck Roast Chili:

Beef Chuck Roast - You'll need one boneless chuck roast or Tri-tip roast for this recipe. We used a one and a half pound roast.

Kidney Beans - One 15 ounce can of kidney beans. You can use cannellini beans as a substitution.

Pinto Beans - We use one can of pinto beans. You can also use black beans or navy beans as a substitution.

Diced Tomatoes - One fifteen ounce can of diced tomatoes. If you want to use fresh diced tomatoes, use 2 cups.

Tomato Sauce - One fifteen ounce can of tomato sauce.

Yellow Onion - Yellow, white or red onion all work great in this chili recipe.

Green Bell Pepper - We use about a half of a large green bell pepper in this recipe. If you like spicy chili, you can use a jalapeño or two as well.

Diced Green Chiles - One four ounce can of diced green chiles.

Garlic Cloves - We use three fresh garlic cloves in this recipe. I recommend using fresh garlic for better flavor.

Apple Cider Vinegar - Apple cider vinegar or distilled white vinegar can be used in this recipe. This will add some extra acidity to the chili which will help tenderize the meat.

Mustard - We use regular yellow mustard is used in this recipe. Dry yellow mustard can be used as a substitution.

Worcestershire Sauce - Adds a nice flavor to the chili. You can use soy sauce in substitution.

Seasonings - Cumin, Salt, Oregano, Paprika, Chili Powder, Brown Sugar, Black Pepper.

Tools to have on hand for this recipe:

    • Slow Cooker/Crockpot - To cook your chili in.
    • Cutting Board - Prepping the veggies.
    • Chef Knife - Prepping the veggies.
    • Measuring Spoons and Cups - To properly measure all of your ingredients.
