Steakhouse Burger made with a juicy quarter pound ground beef patty, sharp cheddar cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms with mayonnaise and mustard.

JUMP TO RECIPE

I have to admit, cheeseburgers are one of my absolute favorite things to eat. Definitely my go-to cheat day meal! And this burger is definitely worth a cheat meal any day of the week. Serve your burger with a side of fries or a fresh salad. I’ll link some of my favorite side dishes for you below.

We have made this steakhouse style cheeseburger on our outdoor grill and we’ve made them on a grill pan inside and they turned out great both ways. The onions and mushrooms are caramelized in a skillet with butter, red wine vinegar and Worcestersire sauce. If you don’t like mushrooms, you can leave them off the burger and just grill the onions.

Next, the buns are buttered and grilled on a skillet. This gives the buns the most delicious flavor. When you put everything together with the melted cheddar cheese, mayonnaise and mustard, you’ll have such a delicious end result!

This recipe makes four burgers. So, if you are cooking for a crowd, simply double the recipe.

Ingredients you need for this recipe:

  • Ground Beef – I used 85/15 but you can use whatever fat ratio you prefer.
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Small Onion, yellow or red
  • Sliced Mushroom – I used mini portobello’s.
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Red Wine Vinegar
  • Garlic
  • Butter
  • Hamburger Buns
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard

Tools to have on hand when making this recipe:

  • Grill or Grill Pan
  • Skillet
  • Measuring Spoons and Cups
  • Cutting Board and Knife
  • Spatula

How to make a Steakhouse Burger at home:

In a small skillet, add 1 tbsp butter, mushrooms, onions, worcestershire sauce, and red wine vinegar over low heat. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add minced garlic, cover and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Remove lid, stir, and let any excess liquids cook off.

While the onions and mushrooms are cooking, form four hamburger patties. Try not to overwork the meat for best results. Salt and pepper both sides of all four patties. Drizzle about a 1/2 tsp of worcestershire on each patty. Then, rub with 1/2 tsp mustard on all sides.

Heat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. (You can also use a cast iron skillet, or just a regular skillet) Add the hamburger patties to the hot grill and cook for 5 minutes, undisturbed. Flip patties over and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Place a cheese slice on each patty and turn off heat. Cover and let cheese melt.

Butter the hamburger buns and heat a skillet to medium-high heat. Lay buns butter side down in skillet and cook until golden.

Top each bun with mayonnaise and mustard, a cheeseburger patty, grilled onions and mushrooms.

You are ready to serve! Enjoy!
