My Favorite BBQ Burger with Potato Chips! - This mouthwatering burger starts with a buttery toasted bun topped with barbecue sauce, a grilled burger patty topped with melty cheddar cheese, and finally finished with crispy potato chips! So simple, yet so delicious.

What fat ratio of ground beef should I use for my burgers?

I almost always use 80/20 ground beef when cooking my burgers. The fattier meat gives the burger lots of delicious flavor. But, you can use whatever ground beef you have on hand.

What barbecue sauce to use for my burgers?

For a super easy burger night in, you can use your favorite bottled barbecue sauce. For this specific recipe, I used my homemade Carolina Style Barbecue Sauce which goes excellent with this burger.

    Potato Chips on a burger?

Absolutely!! I got this idea from Bobby Flay, who loves the crunch of potato chips on his burgers! I have to agree with him - it's fantastic. I used Lays classic potato chips, but you can use your favorite brand!

My Favorite BBQ Burger with Potato Chips

    Serves: 4

    Ingredients:

    • 1 lb. ground beef
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • ½ cup barbecue sauce
    • 1 cup potato chips
    • 4 hamburger buns
    • 4 tablespoon butter, softened
    • 4 slices cheddar cheese

    Directions:

    1. Form four hamburger patties and sprinkle both sides of each patty with salt and pepper.
    2. Heat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Add the burgers to the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until juices start running from the top of the burger. Flip and cook for another 2-4 minutes and add your cheddar cheese. Allow the cheese to melt and remove from the grill.
    3. Butter the buns and place on a hot skillet over high heat butter side down. It should only take about a minute until they become golden.
    4. Slather bbq sauce on the bottom and top buns, top with your cheeseburger patty, then with potato chips. You are ready to eat!
