JUMP TO RECIPE
apple mustard pork roast

My simple and delicious Apple Mustard Pork Roast Recipe is one of our favorite roasts to make during the fall season. We served our pork sliced over mashed potatoes, topped with apple and onions and a bit of sauce from the slow cooker.

This recipe calls for a two pound roast serving about 6 people. If you are cooking for a larger crowd, simply use a larger 4 pound roast and double the recipe. Cooking time may also need to be adjusted to 8-9 hours.

Ingredients you need to make Apple Mustard Pork Roast:

Pork Roast – You’ll need a two pound boneless pork roast. You can use a pork shoulder or pork butt.

Broth – Chicken, beef or vegetable broth will all work great. I always use chicken bone or beef bone broth for the added health benefits.

Apple Cider Vinegar – This will help to tenderize the pork while it cooks. You can also use red wine vinegar if you don’t have ACV.

Soy Sauce – Low sodium or regular soy sauce are both work great.

Worcestershire Sauce – Adds a nice flavor to the pork roast.

Dijon Mustard – You can use yellow, grainy or dijon mustard in this recipe.

Apple – You’ll need one fresh, cored and peeled apple for this recipe. Use any kind of apple you want! Gala, Granny Smith, etc.

Onion – You’ll need half of a large yellow or red onion. I prefer to use yellow or sweet onion in this recipe.

Brown Sugar – Light or dark brown sugar. You can use use honey or regular cane sugar as a substitution.

Salt – I almost always use sea salt, but you can also use Himalayan or whatever cooking salt you prefer.

Pepper – Fresh cracked or ground black pepper.

Paprika – Smoked or regular paprika.

Garlic – Garlic powder. Do not use garlic salt – it’s too salty.

Ground Mustard – If you don’t have ground mustard on hand, use regular yellow or dijon mustard.

Tools to have on hand:

  • Slow Cooker – To cook your roast in.
  • Cutting Board – To chop and prepare onions/apples.
  • Knife – Chop and prepare onions/apples.
  • Measuring Spoons and Cups – Properly measure all of your ingredients.
