Baked Chicken Parmesan - (Chicken Parmigiana) Crispy breaded baked chicken topped with melted mozzarella cheese. Serve over a bed of pasta with marinara sauce.
This recipe serves 4 people.
Ingredients you need to make Baked Chicken Parmesan:
- Chicken Breasts - You'll need about 4 small chicken breasts or thighs - pounded evenly thin.
- Parmesan Cheese - Fresh grated parmesan cheese is best.
- Breadcrumbs - I used panko, but you can also use traditional breadcrumbs or homemade.
- Paprika - Adds a delicious mild spice to the chicken parmesan.
- Salt - I almost always use sea salt in all of my recipes but you can also use table salt.
- Black Pepper - Fresh cracked black pepper is best but you can also use ground.
- Garlic Powder - Make sure you are using garlic powder and not garlic salt.
- Basil - I used dry basil in this recipe because it is going into the breading mixture.
- Mozzarella Cheese - I used sliced mozzarella cheese but you can also use grated or shredded.
Tools to have on hand for this recipe:
- Baking Sheet - To bake your chicken parmesan on.
- Parchment Paper - To line the baking sheet with to prevent chicken from sticking.
- Spatula - To flip over the chicken while baking.
- Mixing Bowls - For mixing bread crumbs, parmesan and seasonings.
How to make the easiest baked Chicken Parmesan recipe:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs, grated parmesan, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder and basil.
Press each chicken thigh/breast into the bread crumb mixture on each side. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay each piece of chicken onto the sheet. Bake for 15 minutes then flip chicken over and cook for another 15 minutes. When chicken is done, juices will run clear, internal temp will be about 170 degrees.
Place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of the chicken and place back in the oven until cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from oven.
Serve chicken parmesan over a bed of spaghetti topped with marinara sauce. Enjoy!
