What's in General Tso's Chicken?
Chicken Thighs - Boneless, skinless chicken thighs is my preferred meat for this recipe, but you can also use chicken breasts.
Cornstarch - For the chicken batter.
Flour - For the chicken batter. I used all-purpose unbleached flour.
Egg - You'll need one egg for the chicken batter.
Green Onions - To top your dish with. This is an optional garnish but I like the added freshness it gives the dish.
What's in General Tso Sauce?
Soy Sauce - Â I recommend using low sodium sauce in this recipe to prevent the sauce from becoming too salty.
Brown Sugar - Light or dark brown sugar both work great in this recipe.
Rice Vinegar - Adds a nice tang and acidity to the sauce.
Oyster Sauce - You can use regular oyster sauce or vegetarian oyster sauce.
Sriracha - Adds a nice spice to the sauce.
Garlic - Fresh garlic gloves are best in this recipe. You'll need two medium sized cloves.
Ginger - Fresh ginger is highly recommended. You'll need a tablespoon minced/finely grated.
Sesame Seeds - This will go into the sauce and they are also used as a garnish.
Red Pepper Flakes - You'll need the red pepper flakes to achieve a nice spice level.
