Ingredients You Need To Make Tuna Melts At Home:

This recipe will make 4 tuna melts.

Canned Albacore Tuna - Two 6 ounce cans of your favorite albacore tuna. We used Wild Plant wild albacore tuna.

Mayonnaise - We like to use Best Foods/Hellman's or Chosen Mayo for a healthier cleaner version.

Yellow Mustard - I prefer regular yellow mustard in my tuna but you can also use dijon or a grainy mustard.

Dried Dill - Dill adds a nice flavor to the tuna.

Dill Pickle - You can use dill or sweet pickle in this recipe. We finely chopped up one dill pickle. You can also use a relish.

Celery - Adds a nice freshness to the tuna you will love.

Onion - We used yellow onion, but you can also use red onion.

Lemon Juice - Adds a nice tang to the tuna for a nice fresh flavor.

Paprika - Regular paprika is best, but I have also used smoked paprika and that worked good too.

Black Pepper - Fresh cracked or ground black pepper.

Butter - Salted or unsalted butter for grilling up the tuna melt on your pan.

Cheddar Cheese - We used sharp cheddar cheese, you can use regular cheddar or even American cheese.

Sourdough Bread - I prefer sourdough bread with my tuna melt but you can really use any bread you prefer! White breads taste better with this sandwich in my opinion.

    Tools to have on hand:

    • Large Skillet - To cook the tuna sandwiches on.
    • Spatula - To flip your sandwich while cooking.
    • Mixing Bowl - Mixing the tuna salad.
    • Measuring Cups + Spoons - To properly measure all of your ingredients.
    • Cutting Board + Knife - Chopping veggies.

    How to make Tuna Melts:

Combine all of the ingredients except for sourdough, butter and cheddar cheese in a bowl to make the tuna salad.

Heat your large skillet or griddle to medium heat.

Butter one side of all of the sourdough bread.

Once your griddle is hot, add sourdough buttered side down, top with one slice of cheese, a quarter of the tuna salad, another slice of cheddar and then top with final slice of sourdough buttered side up.

Gently press down sandwich with spatula. Let cook for a few minutes until golden on the bottom, then carefully flip sandwich over with spatula and let cook for another few minutes until golden and cheeses are melted.

Remove sandwiches from the skillet and serve with your favorite side dishes. Enjoy!

Side Dishes To Serve With Tuna Melts:

Baked Potato Wedges - Seasoned potato wedges baked to golden perfection are the perfect appetizer or side dish. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces!

Simple Caesar Salad - My quick and easy caesar salad is made with homemade dressing, crunchy romaine, croutons and freshly shaved parmesan cheese.

Oven Steak Fries - With a very light crunch on the outside and soft potato center, these baked fries are mouth watering delicious.
