Big Mac Sliders – The most delicious copycat Big Mac recipe in mini slider form! Layered just like a Big Mac with burger sauce, lettuce, beef patties, cheese, pickles and onions with three bun layers!
Big Mac Sliders are the perfect appetizer that will be sure to blow your guests away! They are so freaking good. If you love McDonalds Big Mac’s like I do (guilty pleasure) then you are really going to love these little bites!
We layered them exactly like a traditional Big Mac and even made the delicious burger sauce that goes along with it. These are super fun to make and I am so excited to share this recipe with you!
This recipe makes six sliders which serves about three people. My husband and I served these with fries and two sliders each filled us up. However, if you are cooking for a crowd you’ll definitely need to double the recipe.
Ingredients you need to make Big Mac Sliders:
Ground Beef – I prefer to use 85/15 fat ratio when it comes to ground beef. It has just enough fat to make it flavorful while maintaining shape and not over shrinking while cooking.
American Cheese – I highly recommend using American cheese in this recipe if you want your slider to really taste like a Big Mac.
Lettuce – Shredded Iceberg lettuce is the only way to go. It is crunchy and perfect in this recipe.
Pickles – Dill pickle chips. You can slice your own or you can buy pre sliced at the store.
Mayonnaise – This will go into making your Big Mac sauce.
Ketchup – Goes into making the Big Mac Sauce.
Mustard – Yellow mustard for the sauce.
Onion – Finely chopped yellow or white onion.
Pickle Relish – This also goes into making the sauce, dill or sweet relish both work great.
Hawaiian Rolls – You’ll need to cut the Hawaiian Rolls into three equal pieces. I sprinkled the tops with sesame seeds and butter prior to toasting. This is a completely optional step!
Tools to have on hand for this recipe:
- Large Skillet – To cook your burgers on.
- Spatula – For flipping your burgers.
- Measuring Cups + Spoons – To properly measure all of your ingredients.
- Cutting Board + Knife – To prepare and chop your veggies!
- Bread Knife – This will make it so much easier to cut your rolls into 3 pieces.
How to make Big Mac Sauce:
Making that super delicious Big Mac burger sauce is easier than you may think! Just whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard and pickle relish. Cover and place in the fridge until you are ready to use.
How to make Big Mac Sliders:
Start by dividing ground beef into 12 equal sized burger patties. You want these patties to be as thin as possible because they will shrink and rise while cooking. Sprinkle both sides of the patty with a tiny pinch of salt and pepper.
Heat your griddle/skillet to medium-high heat. Add as many burger patties to the pan that will fit. Because the patties are so thin, cook for only about a minute or until lightly bleeding on top. Flip patties over and press down with spatula and cook for another minute. Transfer cooked patties to a plate in the microwave to keep warm while you cook the remaining patties.
To make three layers for your Big Mac buns: Slice your Hawaiian rolls into three even pieces. Lightly spread a tiny bit of mayo on each slice. Heat clean skillet to medium heat and place buns on the griddle to lightly brown.
Arrange your Big Mac Sliders: (see image above for more detail!) Start with the bottom bun, spread Big Mac sauce on top followed by chopped onions, shredded lettuce, American cheese, burger patty. Next, place the middle bun on top of the burger patty, followed by the sauce, onions, lettuce, two pickles, burger patty and finally the top bun!
To hold the Big Mac Sliders together stick a toothpick through the top! Enjoy!
Recipe notes:
- I sprinkled the tops of the Hawaiian Rolls with sesame seeds, basted them with butter and lightly toasted prior to heating on the griddle. This is a completely optional step!
- For the cheese, cut each slice of American cheese in half to give you 6 slices of cheese. These will be long so you can fold each half slice in half again to place on your slider.
